The Roosevelt Yacht Club was founded in 1993 as the Roosevelt Sailing Club, but reincorporated as the Roosevelt Yacht Club to include the growing powerboat community. Our goal is to promote fun and safe boating at Lake Roosevelt, Arizona.

Roosevelt Lake is a man made resevoir located 80 miles east of Phoenix in the Tonto National Forest, it is the largest lake located entirely in the state of Arizona. It is 24 miles long with 112 miles shoreline and covers an area of about 22,000 acres when full.
In 1903 the Bureau of Reclamation on the Salt River Project (SRP) began construction on a dam 280' tall and 723' long, later renamed the Roosevelt Dam. The dam was completed in 1911 and dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt on March 18, 1911. At that time it was the largest dam and the largest man-made lake in the world.
Commissioned in 1989 and completed in 1995, the dam was extended by 77' for a total of 357' in height, and a 1080' long suspension bridge was added to alleviate traffic across the one lane road atop the dam. The Roosevelt Bridge remains the longest two lane, single-span, steel arch bridge in North America.
